nopCommerce upgrade discovery and .NET Core port

Thunderbird Supply sells jewelry-making supplies, serving many Native American artisans alongside a global customer base. Their nopCommerce store carried years of custom pricing logic that had become risky to change. I worked the early phase of the upgrade: on-site discovery with their team, and porting legacy .NET code to .NET Core.

What went into it

  • On-site technical discovery

    Traveled to their New Mexico office with our account, project management and leadership team to interview Thunderbird directly. My part was getting the technical detail the non-technical side of the engagement couldn't reach.

  • Technical liaison between the two teams

    Acted as the bridge between their technical staff and ours, turning what their people knew about the existing system into something our team could actually build against.

  • Reverse engineering the pricing rules

    Their pricing moves with the market and depends on volume calculations and product-specific configuration. Working out how silver sheet cuts, weight calculations and volume discounts interact was the prerequisite for changing any of it without breaking sales. I helped gather that picture.

  • Porting .NET to .NET Core

    Ported legacy .NET code to .NET Core across the product pages, information pages and checkout.

  • Published case study
